Thank you all for a successful first! With over 70 attendees from around the nation, we came together in creativity.
We met, we learned, we conquered! Well, except for the part about recording the event…so we’ll be re-doing the session again in the coming days so we can publish Kim’s presentation online. Stay tuned for more details.
Notes for the presentation can be found below.

Interesting line work and patterns within patterns…see Kim’s Black Bowl photo in the How I Do It Pinterest board
Painting from Ghost Ranch…Kim did a residency there a few years ago. Interested in seeing how other artists interpreted the landscape.
How am I going to divide the space? A first question asked a lot when she starts a design. She draws out things that appeal to her. Abstract paintings are a good place to start. The proportions can be tweaked and adapted to the type of work that we do.
Color is secondary to dividing the space…
Comes from being a graphic designer. A lot of Kim’s design aesthetic came from graphic design and even typography. Some of her work several years ago were inspired by movable type, with blocks of glass and lettering.
Check out the board Glass: Fusing Friends to see some of Kim’s favorite glass artists. She loves watching the progression of their art over time.
Helios Live! Idea…art coming out of the science world. Cell structure, fractals, neurology, microbiology, electron microscopy. Kim has a friend who did castings of corn and art inspired by hunger in America.
Bobbie mentioned Zentangle artists.
Kim follows 1300 people on Pinterest! Click on the Following link on her Pinterest page to see who she follows…it doesn’t show what they do, but you can just click to see their pages.
Can make a board private so others can’t see it…great for when you’re making a gift.
