This was an amazing and inspirational Fusing Friday with Leslie. Speicher, proprietor of The Chicago Glass Collective. Kim and Leslie met at a residency at Pilchuck, and she agreed to give a presentation about her thirty-one years working in glass, her education, teaching, and the inspiration for her art.
What we didn’t know is that Leslie is a woman of many, many talents. In addition to fused glass, she is an accomplished glassblower, lamp worker, she’s done encaustics, worked with light, and she even showed us a very unique textile design and large-scale art installations that she had created. For me (Kat), the most interesting part of her presentation was how she found inspiration in the world around her to make a social statement with many of her pieces.
The video for this Fusing Friday is now live. We’re working on getting the previous weeks up as well.
